Illinois State University’s Exercise is Medicine on Campus is a referral-based program that provides ISU students with opportunities for private, individualized physical activity training and programming developed and implemented the School of KNR. The goal is to get university students, faculty, and staff involved in campus-based health, fitness, and wellness programs. The School of Kinesiology a

nd Recreation, Campus Recreation, Health and Wellness, Student Counseling Services, and Student Health Services all work together in order to improve the health and well-being of the campus community. Our program has been recognized by ACSM at the Gold level since 2016.

"Our review article attempts to bring together data showing that significant health benefits can occur at activity levels below 10,000 daily steps, especially if individuals increase their baseline activity by at least 1,000 steps per day. Several studies demonstrate that near-maximal or maximal health benefits can be achieved by engaging in predominantly LIPA (low intensity physical activity) totaling approximately 6,000 to 8,000 steps per day"
