Oil Slick Leap

Despite the name, there’s no oil involved 😄

This famous Bonaire shore dive is known for:
🌊 Crystal clear water
🐠 Healthy reef structure
📸 Great photo opportunities
🤿 And of course… the legendary giant stride entry

The approximate 8 ft “leap” itself is completely optional, but let’s be honest — who can resist doing it at least once.

Once underwater, Oil Slick offers exactly what makes Bonaire so addictive:
Immediate access to the underwater structures, easy navigation, and lots of marine life.

A hidden secret for this site, keep an eye out behind the ladder as you exit. You may see a special school of fish in a little undercut. This is one of the few places on the island that you can see this species. I won't spill the beans; you will have to see them for yourself.

It’s one of those dives where the chat at diner usually starts with:
“Okay… who got the best giant stride photo?” 😄

🌊 Ready to Level Up Your Diving? 🌊

We’ve had several divers asking about taking the next step after Open Water Diver certification, so we are excited to announce plans for a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver training weekend this summer!

Despite the name, you do NOT need to already be an “advanced diver” to take this course. The Advanced course is designed to help you build confidence, improve your skills, and experience new types of diving while having fun underwater with fellow divers.

📚 To complete the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, divers will complete:
✅ PADI eLearning
✅ 2 Required Adventure Dives:
• Deep Adventure Dive
• Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive

🌟 PLUS 3 Adventure Dives of your choice from specialties we support, including:
• Night Diving
• Peak Performance Buoyancy
• Wreck Diving
• Search & Recovery
• Enriched Air
• Underwater Photography
• Fish Identification
• DSMB Deployment
• Boat Diving
• DPV (Scooter) Diving
…and more!

Already certified in one of these specialties? Some previous certifications may count toward your Advanced Open Water completion.

📅 Current plan:
We are targeting the weekend of July 25–26 for the training dives. Final location details are being worked out now and will be announced soon.

After Advanced training wraps up, we are planning additional opportunities for:

🌴 Bonaire Dive Spotlight: Salt Pier 🇧🇶🤿

As Bonaire Freedom Week gets closer, we figured it was time to start highlighting a few of the island’s iconic dive sites…

First up: Salt Pier!

Massive pilings covered in marine life. Schools of fish weaving through the structure that open up like a door allowing you to pass. Squads of squid dancing in the sunlight. Smaller fish and creatures living among the rubble. And some of the most unique underwater lighting and atmosphere Bonaire has to offer.

Salt Pier is one of those dives where you can spend the whole time looking:
⬆️ up at the structure
⬇️ down in the bottom covering
👀 and somehow still miss things

As a photographer this site is a favorite for good reason 📸

If conditions allow and no ships are loading the Bonaire salt, this is absolutely one of the Bonaire dives that sticks with people long after the trip is over.
