The Norfolk City Blues Rugby Football Club was founded in the Spring of 1978 as the result of a merger between the Norfolk Rugby and Norfolk Irish Rugby Clubs.

Through the Fall of 2019 the Blues have accumulated a first side 15s record of 616-238-17 (Fall 2019)

The NCBRFC has represented the state of Virginia in playoff competition and have had numerous players chosen to State and Regional Select Side teams. The Blues are active in all aspects of Rugby, whether it is 15s, 10s, 7s, Old Boys, High School, Refereeing, or Administration. The Blues team colors are Blue and Gold, the colors of the City of Norfolk. The Norfolk Blues are named after the Norfolk Light Artillery Blues, a military unit dating back to 1829; their oath of service said they would "never surrender." The team symbol is the Norfolk Mace, a large, ornamental mace that was crafted in London from pure silver. It was presented to the 'Borough of Norfolk' in 1754 by Robert Dinwiddie, Lieutenant General of Norfolk from 1751 to 1758 and is still used today for public ceremonies. The Norfolk Blues are a member club of the Capital Rugby Union and the USA Rugby Football Union.

15s Practices are held every Tuesday & Thursday from 7-9 pm at Captain Slade Cutter Athletic Park. Keep up to date via messages on our page.

The Norfolk Blues and Norfolk Storm enjoyed a costume touch match at the end practice yesterday. With Halloween a couple of days away the teams decided to be festive. Thank you to the ladies of Norfolk Storm for some much needed fun, laughs, and rugby.

If you are looking for a fun activity with a great group of people, join the Norfolk Blues or Norfolk Storm. Both teams are always accepting new players to add to the family.

After a close first half, the Blues fell to Riverlands this Saturday. As expected it was a tough match with lots of hard hits. The Blues will have a bye this week, and be on the road again November 7th against James River.

This past Saturday, the Blues crossed the water to have a friendly mixed match with CNU. The weather was cold and rainy but it was a great rugby day overall. Building relationships has been a big focus for the Blues this year.

Thank you to CNU Rugby cnu_rugby for a great match. We followed up with a social at Brickhouse Tavern

The Blues are always accepting new players. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm. Capt. Slade Cutter Athletic Park in Norfolk.
