Fairness at AGTTA League
Folks, my e-mail is broken, so I am sending this on Facebook, as it will reach nearly as many folks if not more.
Rules and guidance to live by:
Fairness and rules in AGTTA League play.
Last Tuesday, there was a League match between Loan Pham and Ahab Afifi.
This match was recorded improperly and awarded to Ahab because of his improper actions. Ahab was awarded the win. Loan was entered as defaulting because of leaving when she thought she was being cheated.
Ahab, on several occassions, two in this match, discerned that he thought Loans service was illegal, and awarded himself the points.
In the AGTTA League, we don’t have an official Umpire or Referee, the closest to a match official is the League Director, and only then when he may be available. We rely mostly on player honesty, and fair play.
In this case, after talking to several players and the League Director, it appears that Ahab put himself in the role of Match Umpire. But he is not, he is purely a player.
Ahab, as a player, you have no rights to call serves, or any other shot, nor to award points to yourself. AGTTA does not adhere to this type of behavior among players. Period.
In the point of fact, Ahab was cheating Loan.
Ahab should not have been awarded the match. I am directing the Acting League Director, Paul Chung to remove the forfeit from Loans record and the Win from Ahab’s record.
Here’s what any players in an AGTTA League match should do in cases like this:
Where there is a disagreement between players on a point, for any reason, discuss the match to the place where you agree on the last correct score and then PLAY THE POINT OVER.
No player should award themselves a point, Play the point OVER.
Any points lost by Loan should not be lost, Ahab should not be recorded as a win.
Loan won the table.
