Today I got a call that left me completely brokenhearted. My buddy Tommy left us today, and honestly, I still can’t process it.
Tommy was such an amazing person. He loved being out in the desert, putting on races and bringing people together. It was what he was made to do, and he was truly one of the best at it.
Tommy is the reason we were able to bring the Powder Puff race back. He taught me all the ropes — what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. We spent countless hours on the phone, and he shared his knowledge wholeheartedly, always encouraging me along the way. When the task ahead felt huge and overwhelming, Tommy never doubted for a second that we could do it — and because of him, we did. Tommy was a true mentor to me.
We laughed so much together. Every time he called, he’d say, “Hey kid, what’s crackin’?” And when we’d hang up, it was always, “Ok boss! We’ll talk soon.” I will miss that so much.
Tommy was someone who believed in people, helped without hesitation, and left a lasting mark on everyone lucky enough to know him. The desert community, and this world, won’t ever be the same without him.
My heart goes out to his family and friends during this unimaginable time.
I will miss you so much, my dear friend. Thank you for everything you taught me, for every laugh, every phone call, and every moment of encouragement. You will never be forgotten, Tommy. 🤍😓
