06/25/2026
We regret to inform you that our yearly “Sparks in the Park” fireworks show, which was originally planned for tomorrow, Friday, June 26, 2026, has officially been postponed.
Please know that this was by no means an easy decision to make. Our staff has spent months planning, preparing, and looking forward to celebrating with all of you. However, our top priority will always be the safety of our attendees, volunteers, and vendors.
Planning a large-scale fireworks production involves immense logistical coordination. Our professional pyrotechnics team travels a significant distance to bring this show to life, and the setup process requires hours of meticulous, labor-intensive preparation in the field. Because fireworks operate within an incredibly strict and precise launch window, the current forecast of rain showers that could be heavy at times with the possibility of thunderstorms and the potential of flooding leave us with zero margin for error. Under these severe conditions, setting up and safely executing the show is simply not feasible.
We are incredibly disappointed to share this news, as we know how much this event means to our community.
We are incredibly grateful to our pyrotechnics crew, our staff, our vendors, and you—our community—for your understanding and cooperation. Your safety will always be our absolute top priority.
Information regarding rain date will be shared on our website and social media channels as it becomes available.
Thank you for your continued support, and please stay safe.
Sincerely,
Johnson County Parks and Recreation
