Tam O'Shanter is a beautiful 9-hole golf course operated by the Niles Park District. It is scenically situated on the North branch of the Chicago River.

Historic Tam O’Shanter Golf Course can trace its roots all the way back to 1925 when Tam O’Shanter Country Club was one of the premier golf facilities in the country. The course was home to some of the richest tournaments of the 1940’s and 1950’s and hosted the best players in the world (check out some great shots from these tournaments in our photo section!). In 1973, as the property was slated f

or industrial development, the Niles Park District was able to purchase land north of Howard St. where the 9 Hole, Par 33 course remains today. Niles Park District is proud to keep the rich tradition of Tam O’Shanter alive with fantastic playing conditions and an enjoyable layout for both beginning and seasoned golfers. The accompanying Tam Golf Learning Center is home to all our instructional programming, which is available year round thanks to our indoor putting green and chipping area, and full swing hitting stations. We're a proud operation of the Niles Park District and excited to share that a recent improvement project to another one of our facilities is wrapping up. Golf Mill Park has been extensively renovated and a GRAND OPENING is planned for the community in June. See details below!

If April showers do bring May flowers, next month is going to be BEAUTIFUL here at Tam. After over 2.50" of rain overnight, the golf course is flooded and will remain closed today Wed, April 15. With water rising and more rain on the way, we will almost certainly be closed tomorrow as well. Updates are always available at our booking page on golftam.com. We hope to see you back soon!

We're proud to serve you!

Our short course definition is probably different than yours. This list includes layouts that are a par 69 or less, shorter than 6,000 yards or less than 18 holes.

Yesterday (Nov 5) we hosted our 40,000th round of the season! A huge THANK YOU to all our loyal golfers. Whether you visited us once or dozens of times, we are grateful for your support and are proud to serve you. The weather may be turning cooler, but we're not quite done yet! A story well worth sharing. Proud of our fellow Niles Park District staff!

We'd like to send a big shout out to the individuals in the photo below. Earlier this week, an individual collapsed while playing pickleball at a Niles Park District facility. These men quickly recognized the severity of the situation and sprang into action. They simultaneously called 9-1-1, initiated CPR, and utilized an AED. NFD Companies quickly arrived on scene and began providing additional care and transported the ill person to a local hospital. The quick thinking and decisive actions taken by these men likely saved this individual's life. Thank you for your outstanding work!
