The mission of Stardust Equestrian Center is to improve the lives of children and adults with disabilities by promoting horsemanship and equestrian skills as a safe, fun method of recreation and therapy. Stardust works to develop confidence, positive self-image, and hope in participants through riding, horse care, and social interaction. In addition, Stardust supports parents, caregivers, family,

and teachers by developing and striving for achievable goals to aid the participants’ everyday life as well as helping participants to reach their individual potential. We offer therapeutic riding lessons, some typical riding lessons, comet classes, and pony rides. Therapeutic riding lessons are for riders from 2 up who have been diagnosed with a physical, mental, or emotional disability. We focus on safety, horsemanship, and of course riding! Comet classes are designed to allow groups of 10-20 people come learn about horses and riding. Each rider will receive a short "mini-lesson" on stopping, walking, steering, and even trotting if they want. Our horse leaders stay with the riders to ensure their safety and fun. This is a great option for scouts and riders older than 6 years old (although we don't impose an age limit.) Pony rides are our newest offering! We offer hand-led pony rides for small to large groups on our wonderful therapy horses. Even though they are called pony rides, we have horses who participate, so even parents can have a chance to ride. We offer rides at our farm in Madison County, or can come to you!

Tuesday, June 9 - riding for Winning Warriors camp in Jefferson, GA
looking for 3-5 horse leaders, a side walker or two, and someone to fit helmets
riding is 9 am - 12 pm

Thursday, June 11 - riding for Lacoda Farms Boot Camp in Nicholson, GA
looking for 3-5 horse leaders, a side walker or two, and someone to fit helmets
riding is roughly 9 am - 12 pm

Tuesday, June 16 - visiting with residents at the Oaks of Athens
looking for a horse leader or two and an animal-cracker-distributor
11 am - 12 pm

Wednesday, June 17 - Pony rides at Refuge Church's VBS in Commerce
looking for a couple horse leaders, a side walker, someone to fit helmets, and someone to help with waivers
riding is roughly 6:30 pm - 8 pm

Saturday, July 4 - July 4th Parade in Colbert, GA
We will have a float to ride and candy to throw out!
Staging at 8 am (or earlier), parade kicks off at 9 am
We will be in the end so we can be with the horses - usually done around 10:45 (this is a LONG parade!)

Saturday, April 25 - Gordon's Chapel Methodist Church Annual Pork BBQ - Laura has tickets. $15/plate eat in or take out. This is great food!! And if you want to help, we'd love that too!

Saturday, 11/1 - Fall Festival at Sanford Community Center - pony rides and games - we could use 1-2 horse leaders and someone to help with waivers and information. The event is from 9 am - 2 pm, but we will set up before hand.

The Stardust Equestrian Center Inc Crew (+ our friend and neigh-bor Lena) all had a great visit from the team at Covered Bridge Equine today. Dental checks, vaccines, chiropractic, lameness checks, and general wellness exams keep this team happy, healthy, and comfortable in their regular schedule of lessons, shows, therapeutic work, and being much-loved companions. Your vet team is an amazing resource for keeping your horse healthy and happy as long as possible!

Just kidding. I had to call Bees in the Garden Honey to help with a swarm on my fence post today.

In other good news, JJ remembered that the wire is shocking and hadn't tried to eat the bees before help arrived.
