The Cartier awards, which select the year's leading European horses, is determined by a combined scoring system made up of:
• fan votes (35%),
• a panel of racing journalists and handicappers (35%),
• points achieved in Pattern races throughout the season (30%)

Porta Fortuna is a standout this year, having 2 more G1 wins than her closest competitors. She finished first in the points category with 120 points, while her closest challenger has 68 points.
