With a long spring and summer baseball season ending, and the start of fall baseball it is important to keep young players healthy and safe. Not just for their youths, but for the rest of their lives.
Just a few facts from Pitch Smart - USA Baseball
-pitching 100+ innings over the year leads to a 3.5x more likelihood of injury
-playing(pitching) 8+ months over the year leads to 5x more likely chance of injury
-pitching on consecutive days increases injury risk by 2.5x
-playing multiple positions with excessive throwing (catcher, SS) increases your arm injury risk 2.7x
I got into strength and conditioning of baseball players because I wanted to help athletes become the best versions of themselves, reach their maximum potential and give them something I didn't have while playing. I now see that it goes much further than just the diamond. We as coaches, players and parents need to make sure young baseball kids live happy and healthy lives.
