Christen Press, star forward for the United States Women’s National Soccer team, recently announced that she will be taking a few months away from the game to focus on her mental health, spiritual growth, and grief processing. The past year has brought great pressures to elite athletes in the spotlight. At Mindful Athlete Training we recognize the importance for Christen to prioritize her personal mental recovery at this time in her career.
Elite athletes like Christen have excelled at their craft through their ability to withstand intense physical and mental demands over time. An essential component of the sport performance equation is intentional recovery, enabling the mind and the body to return to baseline after being loaded with pressure amid chaos. It is through this recovery that we can refresh, recharge, and re-enter into the demands of our craft. In her Instagram post announcing this decision, Christen said “I believe I will come back stronger than ever.” We believe her, and we wish her the best!

⭐️ Mindful Athlete Training coast to coast! ⭐️
In the first of our spotlight series, we would like to highlight Bryan Padilla of UConn (left) and Channing Austin of USC (right).
Both are rising sophomores from Brooklyn, New York, and attended Poly Prep High School.
Bryan is an infielder who ranked number 2 in New York at short stop and 118 in the country.
Channing was the number 1 ranked third baseman in New York and 23 in the country, and is now committed to pitching.
At 19 years old, both throw a 90+ mile per hour fastball (90 and 93, respectively).
We have been working with these rising stars since June. Both have gotten a baseline bioQ and have committed to training and building mental strength. Through training, a higher level of performance is possible, and we are very excited to see both reach the next level in their baseball careers. We wish them the best of luck in their coming seasons!
