It’s time to highlight our May Athlete of the Month Alex Bull! 👏

Since joining us in December, Alex is already closing in on his 50th session at Atlas. In that time, he’s taken 0.10 seconds off his 10-yard sprint, added almost an inch to his vertical jump, and has become significantly stronger in the weight room.

As a swimmer for , Alex competes primarily in sprint freestyle and backstroke events, regularly racing the 50, 100, and 200 distances. His consistency and work ethic in the gym continue to translate directly to his performance in the pool. 🏊‍♂️

Alex has been extremely dedicated to his program, consistently coming in 2–3x per week since joining us. Whether it’s speed, strength, or conditioning, Alex gives 100% effort in every session and always does it with a smile.

We’re incredibly proud of all the hard work he’s put in and are excited to continue watching him grow both in the pool and at Atlas! 💪

This past weekend we had the opportunity to speak at the George Green Swim Camp with at 🏊‍♂️

We talked with young swimmers and their parents about:

➡️ Why strength & conditioning matters
➡️ What to look for in a quality program
➡️ How to fit training into a busy schedule

Check out this clip of one of our owners & director, Alex Diggory, explaining how we approach long-term athlete development and why building a strong foundation at a young age matters.

With the start of May we’re excited to highlight April’s Athlete of the Month 👏

Declan was one of our very first athletes when Atlas first started and he’s been training with us since 2021!

Now a senior and captain of the lacrosse team , Declan has been one of our most consistent athletes this spring. 💥

This past off-season, Declan battled through an injury that kept him out of lacrosse leading up to his season. Throughout that time, he stayed fully committed to his rehab process both in physical therapy and at Atlas.

Since returning, Declan has hit a major milestone as he became the all-time leading goal scorer at Devon Prep. After graduation, Declan will be attending Elizabethtown College, where he’ll continue both his academic and athletic career with

We’re so proud of all of Declan’s hard work over the past 5 years and are excited to see him compete at the next level after graduation! 💪

Unilateral leg strength is key in every sport.

So at Atlas, we prioritize single-leg dominant movements like split squats to build single leg strength.

Here’s an example of how we may progress or regress split squat variations based on each athlete’s ability 👇

🔹 Bodyweight Split Squat ISO — builds foundational control & teaches athletes positional awareness
🔹 Plate Hold Split Squat — reinforces upper body control & core engagement
🔹 DB Split Squat — allows us to slowly increase weight & focus on single leg balance
🔹 DB Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat — increases range of motion & greater demand on the hip
🔹 Barbell / Safety Bar Variations — allows for higher loading to maximize strength once the athlete has demonstrated movement competency

Having a clear progression ensures our athletes are always appropriately challenged and able to handle more load as their movement quality improves. 💪

Take a look at an example of one of our middle school athlete’s med ball and plyometrics work from yesterday’s in-season lift ⚾️
MB + Plyo pairing:
A1: Shuffle Med Ball Side Toss - loading and transferring force similar to hitting
A2: Band-Resisted Broad Jump - produces horizontal force production needed for explosive movements
Together, this combo connects:➡️ Lower body force➡️ Core transfer➡️ Upper body output
In-season training = high output + low volume

It was awesome being part of both the North Carolina and Pennsylvania Athletic Directors Association annual conferences and connecting with coaches and school leaders who are passionate about developing their athletes the right way.

Strength & conditioning at the school level is about more than performance — it’s about building habits that last beyond sports.

We’re continuing to expand our school partnerships and are excited for what’s ahead.
