Exciting news! Average Joe Karate is thrilled to announce we're merging with our good friend Jimmy Smith and his dojo, Appalachian Karate Online! We will now together be Online Shotokan Karate Academy . 🎉 Jimmy and I have been great friends and training partners for the last five years, and we're so excited about this new future endeavor together.
More details will be coming soon, and current students and contacts will also receive an email with more information. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out!

If you are doing martial arts just to get a black belt, you are missing the point and will likely fail in your attempt. The belt is a reminder of the tremendous growth you’ve made while training in your art – becoming fit, learning technique, gaining confidence, becoming disciplined, showing respect, overcoming mental and physical challenges – all important life skills that make you into a better person.

A black belt is just a belt. It’s the mountains you climb while on your black belt journey that should be your focus and reward. Oss!
