We have taken a little bit of a break as our driver's brother decided to come into this world 6 weeks early. He is doing great but will still be in the NICU for another week or two.

Trent and dad snuck away for a bit last night to watch the Flo night in America race at Marshalltown Speedway. What a fun night! Highlight of the night for Trent was getting to talk to Devin Moran and hang out with him during the late model B main.

Trent's upcoming schedule is very up in the air at the moment, but we are tentatively planning to race English Creek Speedway on 8/28.

We are still figuring out a hit and miss schedule for the remainder of the outdoor racing season.

Trent's Racing Recap 7-17-26
English Creek Speedway
BP Wing Class - 19 total karts
Qualified - 18th
Heat Race - 6th➡️6th
B-main - 6th➡️4th
Feature 16➡️DNF

Qualifying - Dad has yet to figure this out. Line looked better but gear was off and he was running out of gear early.

Heat Race - Started 6th and had a good start and tried to go three wide into turn 1. The gap closed and he had to lift to avoid wrecking himself and a few others. Fell back a little and just ran in 6th the rest of the race.

B-main - Started 6th and drove his butt off. The best he's looked at this track. Worked his way to 3rd, but bobbled a little on a restart with 2 to go and fell to 4th. But that was good enough to qualify for the A-main.

Feature - Started 16th, he told me he was going to hang back a little on the start so he could avoid the wrecks. I told him to do what he was comfortable with. Well...he must have forgot what he said he was going to to because he got a great start drove hard into turn 1 on the outside and had 4 karts passed by the time he came out of turn 2. He saw a hole between 2 karts going into 3 and tried it only to have the hole close on him. A couple karts got together and him and another kart got hooked together and stopped. Had a couple more good restarts and was looking real good. The leader spun and all the karts checked up, Trent had to try and spin to avoid the karts in front of him and the kart behind him wasn't looking ahead and drove through him and he ended up getting tipped over on his side. It was a light roll/tip over and there was only a small amount of damage to the wing. Trent wanted to keep going but by the rules (rightfully so) he was not allowed to and got pushed to the infield to watch the rest of the race. Got credit for 15th.

Overall very happy with the night. So much improvement in his race line and dad is starting to get the kart figured out how he wants it. It was his 3rd race in the BP class at English Creek Speedway and the first time he made the A-main. This is a very stout class full of very talented kids. It's racing and stuff happens but he had that kart rolling and it would have been fun to see just how far he could have made it up through the field.

Our schedule is up in the air but we plan to be back soon and plan to hit some other tracks here and there.

Trent's Racing Recap 6-6-26
Newton Kart Klub - BP Wing - 8 karts

We finally got a chance to race the new chassis and body/wrap. It looked really good and ran just as good for 22 laps.

Heat 1 - Started 4th - Finished 5th
He had 2 really good starts where he was able to get down into line in 3rd. Both were called back do to incidents behind him. On the third restart everyone had a good start and he fought hard to get down in the groove and got in line in 5th and had to settle for 5th. Kart was fast and handled way better than is has been. It was turning so much better he basically had to learn to drive again.

Heat 2 - Started 5th - Finished 5th
Ran 5th for a bit. Got passed, fell to 6th, started to get the handling figured out and caught the kart in front of him. He ran patiently, set him up and crossed him over to get back to 5th where he finished.

Feature - Started 5th - DNF
Confidence was high as he was getting this new kart figured out and we were looking forward to seeing what he had. Track was rough all night. And the disks were moved out 4-5 feet from normal as the track was not worked and the normal racing groove was unraceable. This made the track narrow and rough. He was running 5th and the 2nd and 3rd place karts got together and Trent had nowhere to go. Locked up the brakes and did what he could but had no chance to avoid a big hit. Luckily he is ok, just a little sore today. Kart did not fair so well. We got it all torn down and will take it in tomorrow to see if it can be saved.
