Traveled back over to Lonesome Pine Raceway this past weekend for Race 4.
We tested all day Friday and made steady gains, but we were still missing something. Saturday’s rain delay gave us time to make major changes to all four corners of the car.
We qualified with our fastest lap ever at Lonesome Pine, a 16.08. After qualifying, we finally found a major issue in the front end that we’ve been chasing since we picked up the car. With only 30 minutes before the race, we scrambled to get everything back together, not knowing what to expect once the green flag dropped.
The car struggled a little early, but by lap 15 it was the best it had ever been. We ran with the front of the field most of the night before the car started trending a little free on corner entry. After a few cautions and a long green-flag run, we brought home a 6th-place finish against, by far, the toughest field we’ve had at Lonesome Pine this season.
The finishing position doesn’t tell the whole story. We finally found the issue we’ve been chasing all year, and this was easily the best the car has been. I’m excited to see what the rest of the season has in store.
