A group of CCMAA students traveled to Baltimore this past weekend to compete in the USKSF Tournament. It was a wonderful team bonding experience for all. Students, parents and Instructors enjoyed a pre-tournament dinner, and our seasoned veteran competitors offered last minute coaching to the younger students into the evening hours.

The CCMAA Lion Dance Team was honored to perform during the Opening Ceremony which kicks off the tournament. Throughout the weekend, students gave their best in competition, supported one another from the sidelines, and cheered on fellow competitors from other schools.

The weekend ended with a banquet, where last year's all-around champions were announce. Congratulations to Mason on his teen all-around win! We are proud of all of our students for their hard work, dedication, and the way they represent CCMAA!

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Calvin Chin's Martial Arts Academy and 15th anniversary of the Helen Gee Chin Scholarship Foundation! We were honored to welcome Mayor Marc Laredo, who presented us with a proclamation in recognition of our 30 years of serving the Newton community.

Thank you to the members of the business community and fellow martial arts schools who came to show their goodwill and support for CCMAA and the Foundation. We truly appreciate your friendship and support.

It was wonderful to reconnect with so many alumni who returned to participate, support, or even perform at our fundraiser benefiting the Foundation. Seeing familiar faces from throughout the years made the celebration even more special. A few hours wasn't enough time to catch up with everyone, but we were grateful that many joined us for our group photo. Please don't wait for another milestone to come visit!

Lastly, our heartfelt thanks to the Academy's and the Foundation's supporters, donors, and volunteers who made this event possible. Your countless hours of planning and hard work behind the scenes brought everything together, and we are deeply grateful for your dedication and generosity.

Our 30 year anniversary event is only a month away! We can’t wait to reconnect with old friends, parents and alumni who will be attending Open House, perhaps even performing, as we celebrate this special milestone. This year also marks 15 years of the scholarship foundation!

The Helen Gee Chin Scholarship Foundation selection committee has completed its review of 2025-26 applications. Over the years, our scholarships have supported students with dedication, discipline, and a strong connection to martial arts values, as well as academic achievements.

Thanks to the generosity of its donors, the Foundation was able to award a total of $21,500 this year! Join us in congratulating this year’s award recipients:

Thank you to our members for supporting us at Mohegan Sun! It is a long day (made longer by snow) but always a team bonding event, especially with the old troupe teaching the little lions. We appreciate everyone’s help and Mohegan Sun Casino for having us for their lion dance parade 2025!
