The Cincinnati Junior Rowing Club is a competitive rowing team, open to any high school student in the greater Cincinnati area. Located in Newport, Ky, the club has both boys and girls teams, totaling around 130 rowers from area schools. Since our inception in 1993, CJRC has emerged as one of the dominant programs in the Midwest region if not the whole country. The boys and girls teams have each w

on 20 team championships at the annual Midwest Junior Rowing Association competition along with over 30 medals at National Championship regattas, including 15 national titles. Following their successes at our club, numerous CJRC have gone on to compete in the Olympics and other world rowing competitions. Many of our club’s rowers continue their rowing careers at elite colleges and rowing programs such as Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Columbia, Duke, Virginia, Texas, Washington, etc. Although we have experienced national recognition, we prides ourselves on being a program driven by the rowers and open to anyone--regardless of experience or income level.

Reminder: We will be hosting our 2026 Fall Open House at the Newport Boathouse tonight at 7pm! Come down to learn more about our club and the sport of rowing. We provide opportunities for 6th-12th grade students to learn and grow in the Olympic sport of rowing. No experience is needed to join. We offer open enrollment to the club.

Sam Hinton is off to Dartmouth this fall, and is undecided. He’s been rowing for 5 years and his favorite memory was 2nd place at youth nationals 2023 and winning Midwest 2025. Go Big Green!

John is going to Stanford, undecided. Hes been rowing since freshman year, and his favorite memory is winning Midwest 2025!

Ella Farro will be rowing at the University of Toledo this fall and will be studying Speech-Language Pathology. Ella has rowed four years at CJRC and her favorite memory is doing spirit weeks with her team every race week! Let’s go Rockets!

Alex Thompson will be rowing at Brown University this fall and will be studying biomedical engineering. Alex has rowed four years at CJRC and her favorite memory is making her coach Andy wear an oar costume after winning gold at The Head of the H***h in the women’s U19 8+. Go bears!

Lucy Kiely will be rowing at the University of Notre Dame this fall and will be studying Pre-Health and Anthropology. Lucy has rowed one and a half years at CJRC and her favorite memory is placing third in the women’s U19 8+ at Youth Nationals! Go Irish! ☘️

Julia Flynn will be rowing at the University of Tennessee this fall and will be studying kinesiology. Julia has rowed four years at CJRC and her favorite memory is having everyone in the women’s varsity eight create a handshake with each other because it was a fun way of saying I trust you before every piece or race. Let’s go Vols!
