For the first time in 10 years, Newport Golf Club was proud to host a New Hampshire PGA Pro-Am tournament on Monday.
Pat Pelletier, the professional at Crown Point CC, and Cory Mansfield, the pro at Derryfield CC, tied for the best scores of the day by each carding an even-par 71. They both won $352.50 for top prize.
The Indoor Golf Club, led by pro Danny Kish, won low gross, shooting a team score of seven-under-par 64.
Low team net title went to Hoodkroft Country Club, captained by pro Eric Soderman, by carding an 11-under-par 60. Interestingly, the last time Newport Golf Club hosted a PGA Pro-Am in 2016 , Soderman was the low professional, winning the day with a 3-under-par 68.
The reviews are in, and the conditions at the course were roundly complimented all day. One pro said this is the best course they've played so far this year. Our thanks go out to the greens crew and Superintendent Gary Summerton for polishing the Gem of the Sugar River Valley.
