Competitors gathered at the top of the hill at Harbour Court yesterday evening for the Opening Reception of the inaugural New York Yacht Club Women’s International Championship Presented by State Street Investment Management and SPY and the reveal of the trophy courtesy of official regatta supplier Tiffany & Co.

I thought that the loop between Ida and our strategist, Vilma [Bobeck], was amazing to hear on the helm. I think that me and Louisa on the main trim also found a super good speed loop.”

An early start this morning brought the competitors out for an early first warning at 1000 for Day 1 of Racing at the 2026 Women’s International Championship presented by State Street Investment Management. Race committee was able to get in one race in good breeze today. Congratulations to Ida Svensson on winning today’s race ⛵️

At the 2026 New York Yacht Club Women’s International Championship Presented by State Street Investment Managementment and SPY, Lena Weißkichel, helmswoman, and Julia Jaynes, crew, of Team Aurora, discuss the team’s mission of providing more opportunities for female amateur sailors to showcase their talent. With crew representing six countries, Turkey, Sweden, India, Ireland, Germany and the United States, across five languages, they share how this international representation allows them to learn from each other and bring their best to the competition.

What a remarkable evening for the Opening Reception of the inaugural Women's International Championship presented by State Street Investment Management and SPY. It featured a stirring speech from Commodore Clare G. Harrington, the first look at the stunning trophy created by Tiffany & Co. and a whole lot of good food and great camaraderie. The sunset wasn't bad either. It was the perfect way to kick off this historic event.

The northerly breeze is expected to blow itself out sometime in early afternoon, so the race committee has decided on an early start for Day 1 of the 2026 Women's International Championship presented by State Street Investment Management and SPY.
