She is heavily constructed of fiberglass, with wooden decks, cabin trunk and rigs. Her gross weight is approximately 23,000 pounds, 40’ 9” length overall (28’ waterline), 10’ 9” bean, and 5’ 9” draft. Her sail area breaks down as follows:

• Genoa 400 sf (approximate)
• Mizzen 81 sf
Windigo is a Reliant model, designed by Phil Rhodes. The Choey Lee Offshore 40 is a close sis
ter to the Reliant, and is considered a knock off by Choey Lee in order to get around paying royalties on the design. There were approximately 100 Rhodes Reliant and Offshore 40’s built. To our knowledge, has has had four owners – her original owner who had her built and shipped to the United States. Her second owner was Geoffrey Palmer who sailed her around the world from June 1986 through July 1989. For a short time Dan Kaplin, the founder of Rhode Island Monthly magazine owned her. Mark Treat purchased Windigo in 1995 and has been sailing her throughout New England ever since. Windigo is currently moored in Brenton Cove, Newport Harbor Rhode Island. Her favorite cruising grounds are:
• Maine (outer islands, Penobscot Bay and Mount Desert are favorites)
• Cuttyhunk and the Elizabeth Islands
• Nantucket and the Cape Cod Islands
• Block Island
