We just received word that 12 year old Darrell Bolt passed away this morning. He was a Taylors Law hunter this past deer season and had been diagnosed with a brain stem tumor. In September, his diagnosis was limited to about 6 months. Captain Stan Elrod, Captain Johnny Johnson and RFC Tim Vickery met Darrell at a dove hunt in Franklin County and filled out the paperwork for the Taylors Law hunting exemptions. All three Game Wardens thought he looked great, felt great, and was a very outgoing and active young man and all would have argued that he had been mis-diagnosed.

During the time our Game Wardens knew Darrell, he killed his first deer in Georgia thanks to the Taylors Law. Game Wardens contacted a taxidermist and explained his situation, the deer mount was back in 2 weeks. He was able to kill a bear in South Carolina. He went duck hunting at Skeeter Branch with Cpl. Fulghum just 3 weeks ago and got a mallard. He went fishing with Hank Parker. He also had several trips locally such as deer hunts and fishing trips.

Thanks to the Taylors Law, he killed his first buck! Thanks to the Outdoor Dream Foundation, he went on many more trips. Thanks to volunteers, he met many friends and those of us blessed to meet Darrell will always remember that smile and positive attitude he had while fighting a terrible disease. Today we remember the Bolt family in our thoughts and prayers.
