The Mission of the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins Swim Team is to offer a competitive USA Swimming program for our local communities. We believe in providing multiple training groups in accordance with the ability levels and aspirations of our athletes. We foster the enjoyment and love of competitive swimming and strive for growth and excellence in our team members. With these principles as our foundat

ion, the Blue Dolphins excel at local, state and national levels. CGBD offers high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. All of our coaches, as members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time. We are a non-profit club, run by an elected Board of Directors which meets each month. All members of CGBD are welcome at each meeting and encouraged to be involved in team planning and activities. All CGBD competition and activities are supported by the volunteer efforts of our parents and families.

🎉 Congratulations to Coach McKenzie! 🎉
Coast Guard Blue Dolphins are proud to announce that Coach McKenzie has been selected to participate in USA Swimming's Women's Governance Leadership Program!

This prestigious national program is designed to develop and empower current and future female leaders within the sport of swimming. Participants engage in leadership development, governance education, mentorship opportunities, and collaborative learning experiences aimed at increasing female representation in decision-making roles throughout USA Swimming.

As part of the Women's Governance Leadership Program, Coach McKenzie will attend the 2026 USA Swimming Annual Business Meeting & Convention in Denver, Colorado this September with Coach Jihan. Coach Jihan will be attending in her role as Virginia Swimming's Diversity, Inclusion, Culture, and Equity (DICE) Chair and Disability Swimming Chair. The event brings together coaches, athletes, officials, board members, and swimming leaders from across the country to collaborate, learn, and help shape the future of our sport.

Coach McKenzie's selection is a testament to her leadership, dedication to athlete development, and commitment to growing the sport both on and off the pool deck. Throughout her time with CGBD, she has demonstrated a passion for mentoring athletes, building team culture, and creating opportunities for swimmers to succeed. We are excited to see the knowledge, relationships, and experiences she gains through this program and brings back to our athletes, coaches, and the Virginia Swimming community.

This recognition reflects not only Coach McKenzie's hard work and commitment to excellence, but also the growing impact that CGBD coaches are making at the local, zone, and national levels of our sport.

This award recognizes leadership, character, citizenship, and positive impact—and Hudson embodies all of those qualities. Whether he's making teammates laugh, encouraging others, or helping create the family atmosphere that makes CGBD special, Hudson has a way of making everyone around him better.
