Court battles, HR meetings, co-parenting… sometimes you just can’t cry “narcissist.”

When you can’t, try these phrases instead. They describe observable behavior without the emotional charge. ⚡️

Save this post for later, and follow me for other tips on dealing with your narcissist. 😌

Losing sleep over this relationship? 🫩 There’s a reason for that.

Sometimes in unhealthy relationships, your partner will actually manipulate and control your sleep patterns on purpose. It sounds crazy, but it’s not uncommon for abusers.

Sleep deprivation can be extremely powerful. When you’re exhausted, you’re more emotionally dysregulated, less able to think clearly, and far more likely to give in simply because you don’t have the energy to keep fighting.

If your partner is regularly doing things like…
🌙 Starting/dragging out fights before bedtime
🌙 Waking or keeping you up on purpose
🌙 Not sleeping in the bed with you as punishment
🌙 Having emotional outbursts when you’re trying to sleep

They may be using your sleep deprivation to their advantage.

Get some help – and some sleep. 💤🌙

Chances are, if the advice you’re getting is to “set boundaries”, you’re not used to doing it. 😬 And if you’re not used to setting boundaries, they can feel deeply uncomfortable.

Boundaries are not bad – but they don’t always feel good at first. You have to figure out how to work through inner dialogue like,

“Am I being too harsh?”
“They’re going to hate me for this.”
“Maybe I should just let it go.”

But the more you practice choosing yourself, the more you realize that discomfort doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. Sometimes, it’s just what growth feels like. 🌿

Once you do that, you’ll see why boundaries were necessary all along. 🤍 Follow me for help healing, and going Beyond Healing. 🌸

If you’re constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop in your relationships with others, you might be dealing with separation insecurity.

When you have an extreme fear of being abandoned, betrayed, or rejected, you become hypervigilant, constantly scanning your environment for signs that something is wrong.

Change in tone, prolonged responses, weird looks, minor disagreements – they can all feel like a significant threat to someone with separation insecurity. ❤️‍🩹

And when narcissistic traits are involved, that hypervigilance can become even more intense. You’re not even wrong to worry, because small issues can be exaggerated, turned into major problems, or interpreted as proof of betrayal.

This isn’t a new phenomenon. We’ve been studying narcissism for more than a century. Understanding these patterns can help you recognize what’s happening beneath the surface and, ultimately, begin to break free from them.

Manipulative child… or defensive parent? 👀 This is one red flag a LOT of parents are guilty of! 🚩

Children will test boundaries, push limits, and sometimes use behaviors that get them what they want. And that can be incredibly challenging for a parent. But it is a normal part of development, and it doesn’t make your child evil.

It’s a parent’s job to teach their children healthier ways to communicate and advocate for themselves – not punish them for having needs.

In fact, repeatedly punishing or shaming a child for expressing those needs can cause harmful, long-term damage to the way they see themselves, communicate, and navigate relationships.

Children aren’t perfect – and they shouldn’t have to be to deserve emotionally safe and productive parenting. 🤍

You’re not being dramatic. You’ve just been conditioned to expect the worst. ❤️‍🩹

If you’ve experienced unpredictability, betrayal, criticism, or trauma, your brain may have learned that preparing for catastrophe is the safest way to protect you.

The problem is, that protective strategy doesn’t always know when to turn off. Over time, your mind starts filling in the blanks with worst-case scenarios – even when there’s little evidence to support them.

The good news? Catastrophizing is a learned response, which means it can also be unlearned. With awareness and practice, you can retrain your brain to pause and question these thoughts, instead of automatically believing them to be true. 🧠🤍
