Coweta County Chicks In Chaps- 4-H Mounted Drill Team Coweta County 4H Champion Equestrian Mounted Drill Team We are a highly competitive team dedicated to promoting the principles and tenants of 4-H.

Coweta County Chicks In Chaps is the Coweta County 4-H Equestrian Mounted Drill Team located in Newnan, Georgia with riders from the surrounding areas. The team competes in the Southeastern Mounted Drill Team Association and has won championships for four years in a row with new riders stepping up and working hard to maintain the tradition! We WELCOME cowgirls AND cowboys! The minimum age requirem

ent is nine (9) years of age. The maximum age for riders is eighteen (18) IF the rider is still in high school. We would be happy to change the name to Chicks AND Chaps this year! Our novice team, Freedom Reigns, also practices and competes with SEMDTA! We are hoping to continue to build the team by adding a Green Team in 2023 made up of riders who only trot their mounts. Riders must own/lease/have full use of their drill horse for the full year (August 2023-July 2024) and have the ability/equipment to transport rider and horse to practice. Clinics are generally offered for FREE in the summer to help new riders learn the basics of drill prior to tryouts.

Try outs are still on for tonight! Excited to see everyone there! Forecast calls for rain to blow through around 5 pm but supposed to clear by 6! Of course, safety first- if we have lightning in the area , we will delay for a bit but proceed once it passes! Summer in the Southeast is soooo much fun!

Exciting news! The Chicks In Chaps are holding open tryouts after a FREE mini-clinic to teach some basics and help potential riders get a taste of this awesome sport! Please see our flyer for details. Different teams for different rider levels! We are a team of young ladies at this moment...but would gladly have a "Chicks AND Chaps" team again if we have some young cowboys interested! Congratulations Olivia Miklosovic! Olivia has had an amazing year- but a year of challenges. Her main guy struggled with a bucking issue, and Olivia has shown us all what a truly sticky seat looks like! So proud of her family dedication to getting him healthy and happy again, and wow it shows in those speed events! But she doesn’t JUST go fast! Olivia also has worked with a new green Thoroughbred this year and had an excellent showing at State! In ADDITION, she showed her mom’s sweet boy successfully in Ranch classes! So much to celebrate this year- but we want to take a few minutes to recognize some of our riders in their overall performance accomplishments! So proud of our ladies for showing up and showing out (in a good way 😊) at Georgia 4H State Show! I think every rider who competed placed top 10! But…one at a time…and today we give a huge shout out to our Addelyn! This wild child’s smile and spirit kept her coach going with joy in my heart all season! SEMDTA Advanced Division Champs! Congratulations Chicks in Chaps Varsity! For sure the season had its challenges but this team just wouldn’t quit! Thank you to the riders who literally rode through the trials and to those who rose to the occasion to get us to another championship title! Those buckles have been hard earned and much deserved! The competition was stiff but these ladies along with their amazing equine athletes rode their hearts out! Well done Chicks in Chaps Varsity!
