MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Ramayana Andrews (Ray) is a passionate dancer and choreographer originally from New Bern, NC, who now resides in Newland, NC. She has been dancing since the age of two and has trained and performed competitively in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, modern, pom, and musical theatre. Ramayana has performed twice on national television in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, in 2019 and 2023 with Spirit of America Productions. She is an alumna of the New Bern High School Drill Team, where she developed a deep love and appreciation for choreography, especially creating routines with her team for sports events. She also competed nationally with the New Bern High School Drill Team at the NDA National Dance Competition, earning 2nd place in the nation in the Intermediate Pom Division. Ramayana attended NC Governor’s School East for Dance and has performed for Appalachian State University football, basketball, and wrestling as a role model for the university and member of the App State Dance Team. During her time on the team, she was recognized with the “Rookie of the Year” and “Spirit of App” awards. Her greatest passion is creating fun, engaging choreography while teaching young dancers. She especially loves choreographing hip hop, jazz, and pom, while helping dancers build confidence, strengthen their technique, and develop a genuine love for the art and sport of dance.
