Kaze-Kai Karate We are a traditional karate school that focuses on self-defense and improving the human condition. We focus on the process of progress.

Kaze-Kai Karate looks to give its students a better understanding of body, mind and spirit. I've grown to appreciate and understand why Hangetsu has lasted as one of the oldest kata.

It applies each limb in the fight. It includes grabs and defense against grappling. It also includes simple front kicks.

The form is very grounded as a result and clearly wasn't made to impress a crowd but survive an altercation.

To all Kaze-kai who would like to join in the parade this Saturday. You can find us gathering along the red line in division 2. The parade route is along the blue line and parking can be found in the orange circles.
We'll be meeting up by 10AM the latest. Parade starts at 10:30. Wear your Gi some walking shoes and bring a bag of candy if you can.

We are who we choose to be but what guides those choices? We all have different influences in our lives, parents, teachers, friends, famous people.

Choose who to take advice from based off how their life has turned out. A good sign is how loved they are by their family, friends and even acquaintances.

But love is the key word there. If you're after wealth and power let me remind you, neither of those things can go with you after your passing.
Love however can stay with you forever. That is legacy in the purest sense.

The JKA are a hard group to impress and those who competed did well. For Vera and Jackson it was a first, and Vera still got second place.
And well done to Sumeja for placing third in kata and kumite.

We'll look into their less formal competition coming this fall. Until then I'll see you back in the dojo for more training!

If we always treat children as a child then a child is how they'll remain.
Speaking to them as adults, explaining context; this is how you prepare their mind.
Letting them express emotions and sharing a dialog through it; this is how you prepare their heart.
Express your failures to them, more importantly let them witness your effort to correct them; this is how we prepare their resolve.
Lastly, treat all children as your own for they are the people who will inherit society.
They are how we strengthen the foundation for posterity.
