For years, I've been working towards that one rep. Strict, kipping, banded - I've struggled through it all. (still no strict yet)
✅Recently, I started seeing real progress.
✅Consistency has been crucial,
✅But I've also learned to listen to my body.
▶️ These clips were all taken within a short span of 3 weeks. Progress isn't always linear, but persistence pays off!

🤔What exactly is a patellar tendon tear?

❌ICYMI: Mallory Swason was injured in the April 9th game against the Republic of Ireland and ultimately sustaining a left patellar tendon tear.

➡️The patellar tendon is a vital element of the knee complex allowing the knee to extend when the quad muscle is contracted

➡️Recovery times after surgery are generally 6-12 months depending on the severity # #

⚽️KNEE VALGUS PART 2:The truth about knee valgus🦵. ———————————————————————————-
➡️ Dynamic knee valus positioning gets blamed a lot for sport related injuries especially ACL tears
➡️Realistically there is no way to completely avoid the knee valgus position. The knee has potential to go into valgus with change of direction and change of speed during sports.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️So now what? If we cannot avoid knee valgus what do we do?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ WE GET STRONGER
➡️➡️Improving quad, hamstring, and hip strength can help to stabilize the knee
➡️➡️Improving agility and exposing the body to predictable and unpredictable movements and forms of contact can help the body adapt and be better prepared for cutting movements in a game

🦵🏼ASSESSING KNEE VALGUS🦵🏾
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️Knee valgus occurs when the knee dips on the inside of the foot while bending the knee.
➡️There is a lot of extra pressure on the inside part of the knee which could lead to injury
➡️It is important to assess knee stability and presence of valgus at the beginning of each season or new training cycle to be able to best incorporate exercises that will improve your play and decrease risk of injury
➡️Single leg RDLs, Lateral step downs, double leg squats and single leg squats are the most common functional movement patterns for everyday life and for sports
➡️Starting with a static assessment and static exercises will help to progress towards dynamic movements (Keep an eye out for future posts)

➡️My challenge to you is to try each of these four exercises and test yourself. Does your knee dip inside of your foot, or do you loose balance? If so you will probably benefit from an exercise program to improve lower extremity strength.
