PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE: UNSAFE ICE CONDITIONS. Ice conditions at Lake Wallenpaupack and surrounding lakes/ponds have deteriorated rapidly this week due to sustained warm temperatures and snow melt runoff. We were dispatched just before 5:00 this afternoon for a reported ATV through the ice near Spinnler's Point/ Lynndale. Upon arrival, personnel found both individuals on shore and unharmed. Dive team members in personal protective equipment retrieved as many personal items as possible from the ice. The ATV is resting partially on the ice, but conditions are too hazardous to perform a retrieval until the ice is off the lake.
Please play it safe and stay off the ice. We also recommend extra caution with pets in these conditions. If you, or a pet fall through the ice, please call 911.
