Our state trip wouldn’t have been as memorable without some amazing people supporting us along the way. A huge thank you to the Newell and Fonda Fire Departments as well as the BV county sheriff for the fun sendoff!

Thank you to Mary and Ginger, the clubhouse managers at the Newell and Fonda golf courses. Their support means the world to us💙

Our Athletic Boosters for paying for our expenses this week—thank you! We couldn’t have done this without you!

The school staff at Newell-Fonda is always so supportive and uplifting. Thank you to Mr. Feldhans for making the “game day” social media posts and for showing up today! Jordan Meyers and Cheynne Hanlon are an amazing duo; always making sure we have transportation and that everything is ready to go!

Lastly, a huge thank you to the girls and their families. What a ride! Newell-Fonda is such a tight knit community and I am so proud of the support everyone gives all of our athletes. I can tell you that the way the community supports their school is something special. These girls have created memories to last a lifetime because of their wonderful families who are always there for them.💙

Day 2: We were gifted another beautiful day to golf in Marshalltown. The IGHSAU really did an amazing job of creating an atmosphere where these golfers felt pretty special. And the NF golf team is a pretty special group of ladies and parents. We finished 8th overall as a team. Is that where we wanted to be? Not really, but when I reflect on all of the harsh conditions and obstacles in our way to get here, I’m pretty proud of 8th place! And I guess more than what our scores reflected, I’m so impressed with the way the girls carried themselves among some of the best in the state. They were gracious and thankful to all of the American Legion volunteers, IGHSAU staff, and other golf teams. It’s times like this when you step back and realize that this is much more than a game of golf. Mustang Proud!💙⛳️💙

Day 1: It was a gorgeous day to golf and the Mustangs represented very well! Sometimes it’s not the score that tells the tale of maturity and competency on the course; but how the game is handled. These girls carry themselves very well and know how to stay true to the integrity of the game. As a coach, I was very impressed with them today…even more than usual! Here are our scores after today:

The NF Mustangs had a great practice round today. They’re ready to play some competitive golf on Thursday and Friday of this week! It was only fitting that we took our team picture by the freedom rock since it’s Memorial Day🇺🇸❤️💙🤍

We get to keep playing! We showed up ready to persevere through some tough weather and tough competition. We all finished in the top 20 with 4 in the top 10 and 3 in the top 6! Two PR’s in this weather is also really impressive!

Tonight we hosted our last home meet of the season. Sioux Central, South East Valley, and South Central Calhoun came ready to enjoy the beautiful weather and play some good golf! We ended the season with a win and some excitement at the end of the meet with a four-way tie for medalist! Emma Hurd and Rowyn Nielsen were in the playoff. Alden Wheelock from SCC won the playoff with Sophia Wuebker also from SCC as the runner-up.

Knowing that our goal going into today was to finish in the top 3 shows just how tough our conference is. The Twin Lakes Conference is full of talented golfers and coaches. To win our conference is just icing on the cake! These girls are very determined and focused on making every stroke count. They played some of their best rounds today and also had a lot of fun!

“Positive thinking promotes positive outcomes” is what we’ve been working on lately. Mindset is a huge part of golf and these girls were in the right frame of mind tonight! They fired a 187 to tie the school all-time 9-hole low record! Another school record was tied tonight as Macy DeMey carded a PR of 41 to tie with Alexis Barber for the all-time 9-hole low score! It was a great night to be a Mustang!💙🩶
