As I sit here down at my field of dreams enjoying a cup of coffee (glass of ice tea) I remember all the things that I grew up with at these little league fields. Memories that I will always remember. Mom making popcorn in the concession stand, Dad saying “grab your glove son” and me and my best friend playing catch or doing Homerun derby up against the back stop. These are memories that make up my field of dreams. Having my Uncle Glenn here watching me play knowing he would tell Bud “that boy is good the Mets should sign him!” Chasing foul balls to get baseball cards. Oh and the magical taste of the chuckwagons and double chili dogs that made me the man I am today! 🤣
Today as we prepare for our 11th Annual Mefford Memorial Majors Tournament I hope that all these ALLSTARS come and make their own memories and their own field of dreams!
Lord I pray that everything goes smooth, no injuries and most of all memories are made!! Oh and Big Joe talked to the big man upstairs about the weather..he said “Don’t worry Big Joe I got your back!!” “Plus I can’t let all these fans in their golden lawn chairs down, they are all sat up with their popcorn ready your mom made!” 😊
So the Mefford Memorial Tournament hopes to see you down at the CHEAPSEATS starting at 10am today with our little ALLSTARS rocking like the big kids!! God Bless all our sponsors this year, most of all God Bless our hometown!!!
Remember “People will come, Joe. They'll come to Wyoming for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up the driveway to the little league fields not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's FREE. They'll pass over the money for popcorn and ice cream helmets, without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sit in shirtsleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Joe. The one constant through all the years, Joe, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Joe. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Joe. People will most definitely come to the Cheapseats!!”(not actual quote from field of dreams. 🤣)
