It was the July 4, 2024 “Pop Goes the Fort” event at Fort Bliss in El Paso, where Joey Chestnut took on four soldiers in a hot dog eating competition. Chestnut ate 57 hot dogs in 5 minutes, beating the combined total of the soldiers and helping raise money for military families. we made belts for many.

True story…

I’ve been a promoter, coach, judge, and rep in this sport.

And I can’t even tell you how many times a fighter showed up ready to go…

…but forgot their mouthpiece.

Yeah… the one thing that protects them.

So I started carrying extras in a Ziploc bag.

All pink. 💗

Not to clown anybody…
But trust me—you forget once, you’re not forgetting again 😄

And here’s the funny part…

It didn’t just save the fighter.

It saved the inspector who missed it.
It saved the promoter from losing a match.
It saved the whole situation from falling apart.

All from one small detail.

That’s the lesson:
