Some of the best memories in this sport were never just about the fights.

They were about the people.

The relationships.

The mentors.

The ones who opened doors, shared knowledge, brought people together and made you feel like you were part of something bigger than yourself.

Felix Perez was one of those people in my life.

His press conferences in Mexico were something special. He knew how to bring fighters, coaches, officials, promoters and friends together and make the entire week feel important before the first bell ever rang.

I was fortunate enough to share a lot of those moments with him through IKF, Blackout Fight Gear and the many years we spent building relationships in this sport.

And I will always have tremendous respect and gratitude for Steve Fossum as well. Steve has been an important part of my journey, my relationship with IKF, and so much of the history represented in these photos.

As the years go by, I realize more and more that the trophies, belts and events are only part of the story.

The real history is the people you met along the way and the relationships that lasted.

Felix, thank you for the memories, the friendship, the mentorship and everything you gave to the sport.

God bless you, my friend. Rest in peace.

People. Relationships. Mentors. History.
