It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my boy Phoenix. He was 8. I wanted to reach out and ask if anyone had any photos of him.....if you do. Please post them. He was a special dog. Helped me more than I'll ever be to express. He loved me even when I had no love for myself. I am thankful for my time with him. If you have any photos of him please share....he will be missed.

The handstand is a test of balance, coordination and upper body strength - it is a fundamental skill needed in CrossFit, and it needs a lot of practice too!

Hey guys,

All is well here in Africa just wanted to let you all know that we need to start getting ready to travel and compete in various crossfit competitions. We need to grow our family also. It's been a good experience for me out here. I left thinking I was gonna get a coaching break....however it appears that once you become a coach your always a coach.

It's been good. Challenging but good. I'm ready to take it to the next level....whatever that means hahahah....and I would like to take all those willing and unwilling with me lol.

Keep moving forward.

I would also like to express my appreciation and thanks to my mother. I know it hasn't been easy and to be honest, I left her with alot of responsibility running things. It was either close up, or we work it this way. My point is that I owe her, we all owe her debt of gratitude. I also appreciate everyone's love and patience in this. A true family sticks together through thick and thin, if you don't like the family metaphor then well use the team work one....haha....anyways I hope you all understand my point.....

Also I open up a special invitation. To all those who ive met on my deployment, please come out and visit me. Mi casa es su casa.

Never Quit!

To my crossfit family..... I know the last few months have been challenging. Well.....that's good! It's good to push ourselves, to push the boundries of our comfort zones. I ask that you continue to work hard and keep moving forward....if your feeling stuck, or low, it's time to revisit your goals...both personal and public. We always need to refine our focus, refine our goals.

Any ways I'm feeling rested as I finally had a day off to be and feel normal. I will be home soon.

Much love to you all, and thank you for the positive vibes...please jeep sending them.

The road we travel is never sure, enjoy what we have and be thankful for good people, those who encourage and lift us up who push us to want to be better, live healthier.

Never Quite!

An excellent article on recovery! Preparing the mind.

Mental Conditioning is the area that will (and needs to) have the greatest advancements in performance enhancement for the athlete in the years to come.  The reason is largely due to the understanding how our brain works in the moments of great physical performance is just now being understood.

I wanted to post about an amazing experience I had early this morning. As you all know I'm currently deployed, and have been helping out with the crossfit program here. I've been honored to meet some good military brothers and sisters from across the branches. It is customary when you lead you must also suffer with your team. The way we train and suffer together is through intense and challenging workouts. Workouts that stretch you out and challenge your will to not quit. This morning I met with a few members of a Marine detachment to honor there time here with a going away workout.

The Workout was

10 Rounds for Time:
1 Rope climb (15ft)
3 Muscle ups
5 Tire flips (Heavy)
7 push ups
9 Ball slams

I've always struggled with the muscle up but I can say that today I conquered this beast of a workout with the support and motivation of my Brothers, there was no scaling. I have never completed that many muscle ups in a single session to date. I call that progress and growth. I also call it a will to see the task to the end. I could not have done this without the support of those I was suffering with. I would go to the depths of Hell and back with you, included me and you have earned my respect, and my friendship. I hope I have earned yours.

On a same note I received some sad news that a fellow brother a Vet, a member of Roseville VFW Post 1487, Earl Snyder and WWII veteran has passed away. So I wish to Honor his commitment and sacrifice to his country with this workout.
