PARENTS
I’m working on something new for your kiddos 🫶🏻
this fall I will be offering a homeschool/after school program teaching kids the basics of weightlifting, gym etiquette, and safety.
I know many adults that have never been in a gym, and now feel uncomfortable and out of place if they were to try to go. this creates an unnecessary barrier to exercise, which is sad but also dangerous as weightlifting is necessary for health and longevity (that’s another post).
I also feel that girls and women specifically have an additional barrier as gyms are traditionally seen as a man’s domain. I want to change that narrative.
I myself never stepped foot in a weight room until I was 18 years old. I didn’t know what reps and sets were, or that the bar is 45 lbs, or what muscles I should be feeling engage in a bench press. these are things I want to teach young kids now, so that it stays with them later in their adult life.
that being said, I need your help!
I have a small space so I’m thinking 3-4 kiddos at a time, ages 8 and up.
I’m thinking once a week for 8 weeks structure, starting with an intro class, then going into each of the foundational movement patterns for the subsequent 6 weeks, and finishing with a closing class that recaps what we’ve learned.
classes would run about 45 minutes.
I need to know if you as a parent would prefer a daytime class or an evening class. if I have enough interest I could potentially offer both!
let me know your thoughts! is this something you’d like to enroll your child in? tell me in the comments! and please ask questions—I’m sure there are details I haven’t thought of!
