I started wall walking to prepare myself for drop backs to Wheel, and I was amazed at how much all my backbends improved! 🙌

Standing backbend became less of a struggle, Floor Bow felt amazing, Camel was almost effortless, and my Wheel was stronger than ever! 💪

Just a reminder that backbends strengthen your spine, open the front body, and relieve back pain — why wouldn’t you want to make them part of your routine? 🤷‍♀️

Just so you know, walk walking was difficult — and a little scary — when I started. 😱 Now I wall walk several times a week and I truly love them! 🥰

Tip: Start in a Wheel with your hands as close to the wall as you can get them and then walk your way up. This helps get a good feel for distance from the wall and builds confidence! 🙋‍♀️

I am really finding it helpful to use photos from ads or social media to help me shop my closet! (I actually think it’s fun!🤩)

You may not want to copy this outfit, but you might want to copy how I did it.

If you see an outfit you like, take a screenshot and save it in a file. And then the next time you can’t figure out what to wear, go back to that outfit and see if you can put something similar together. 💁‍♀️

Chances are, if you’re an older girl like me, you have a lot of things in your closet you’re not wearing! Some may need to be thrown out — or maybe need new ways to be worn! 💃

Thoughts when I learned my oldest son is being promoted to Lt. Colonel 🫡: 1. “This is exciting! I’m so proud!” ❤️
2. “What am I going to wear to the ceremony?” 🤔

This is a big deal and I think it’s important for the mother of the Lt. Colonel to be dressed appropriately! 💃

I did an Internet search on what to wear for a military promotion ceremony, and the results were not good — or maybe I should rephrase that to “the suggestions were nothing that I would wear.” 😐

I decided on items from my closet — actually old items from my closet — midi leopard print skirt, boots, and a sleeveless sweater with a layer underneath.

It’s not overly dressy, and I think it looks put together and stylish! 💁‍♀️

Btw I’ve had these Bed|Stü boots for years and I still love them! ❤️

Here’s the funny part about this post: Just a few years ago, I would never have stepped outside the house wearing sweatpants! 👎

When I was growing up, my parents hated sweats. I never owned a pair of sweatpants as a kid, and when I was older, I wore them strictly for lounging around the house — not for wearing in public. 🫣

Fast forward to my 60s, and I now see the sweatsuit possibilities! 👀

They really are versatile, and with the right accessories, can be dressed up or down for so many occasions!

Most of what I’m wearing is from my closet. I put similar items in my Linktree! 🛍️

Sometimes, looking back at my younger, out-of-shape self, this older version of me does seem like a dream! 💁‍♀️

But it’s not.

Being a strong, flexible, active 64-year-old grandmother is my reality — and I love it! ❤️

Getting in shape — at any age — doesn’t have to be a dream. Start today and make it happen! 🙌

We didn’t visit NYC just for handstand opportunities, but they were definitely on the list! 🤸‍♂️

Before we travel anywhere, I do an internet search for interesting sculptures, murals, and other fun places that might be handstand worthy, and then add them to our itinerary! ✅

Here’s where these handstands took place:
1. DUMBO
2. Central Park
3. Central Park
4. Brooklyn Bridge
5. Brooklyn Bridge
6. The Bean Sculpture (It’s a smaller version of the of the one in Chicago.
7. The Vessel
8. Red Cube
9. Group of Four Trees

(Note to other handstanders who are afraid to handstand in public, nobody looks! 👀 Everyone is so busy looking at their phones or the scenery, they really don’t pay any attention to what you’re doing! 🤸‍♂️)

A few things to point out here: I did not start with these drills to learn how to press. 💁‍♀️ (You can look back at my videos at the beginning of this year to see how my journey began.)

Also, aside from the first couple of clips, I wasn’t able to do any of these drills on the first try. But I kept at it, and I got stronger, and the drills became more accessible. 🤸‍♂️

These are drills that worked for me — meaning even though I couldn’t do them initially, I felt like I would eventually get them, and could tell they were helping me progress toward my press. 👍

There are a lot of other drills I did before these to get to this point. And there were a lot of drills I attempted that I thought I would never ever achieve, and moved on to something else.

I’m still not pressing from the floor yet, but I’m super super close — and I’ve come so far since January!

If you’re feeling discouraged about press, don’t give up! I’m proof that if you really work on it, you will make progress! 🙌

I’m not there yet, but I’m so close, I can feel it! The quest for press continues! 🙋‍♀️

Thanks to .jeong_k .aditya and numerous others for freely sharing tips and drills!

The things you see when you go back and watch your video! 😂

That was one of my sons, throwing fake punches while I worked on handstand press! 🥊 And he managed to do it without my knowledge! When you’re upside down, it’s kinda hard to look around! 👀

On another note, I’ve been pressing off of half blocks now! 🤸‍♂️ Whoop! Whoop! 🙌

Did you see that float?!? 👀

I’m really starting to believe press is going to happen! 🙌

I’ve gone from the wall, to a ball, to a few blocks, and now I’m down to one — and feeling more confident (and excited) with my efforts! 💁‍♀️

Moments like this make me so glad I started this journey — and more determined than ever to finally press from the ground! 🤸‍♂️

Stay tuned! The quest for press continues! 🤩
