Muskegon River Fishing Report
Water levels on the Muskegon River are holding at normal seasonal levels, and rising water temperatures are starting to shift the bite. Smallmouth bass fishing continues to improve as the water warms, while trout activity has slowed compared to earlier in the season.
If you're targeting quality bass, early mornings have been producing the best action. Topwater presentations have been especially effective, with larger fish aggressively hitting baits during the cooler hours. Whopper Ploppers, El Choppos, and Rebel Pop-Rs have all been standout producers. If you're looking to put more fish in the boat, soft plastics continue to deliver consistent numbers throughout the day.
As we move further into summer, expect recreational river users to increase, making the midday hours more challenging. Plan to get on the water early to take advantage of cooler temperatures, lighter traffic, and the most active fish.
