Mathew Gates is a British-born ice dancer, moved to the United States at the age of 16 to compete with partner Eve Chalom. Trained majority of skating career under Igor Shpilband and Liz Coates in Detroit, Michigan. Trained for a short period of time under Tatiana Tarasova and Nikolai Morozov in Connecticut. Mathew has several National titles for the United States, but was not a US citizen during
his amateur career and was therefore ineligible to compete at the Olympic games. Mathew is now a full-time coach and choreographer in Charlotte, NC. Two-time World Team Member for the United States
