Mound City Little League Mound City Little League History
Mound City Little League Inc. We hope to see you at all Licking County Shrine tournaments in the future. Registration Fees?

was established in 1951, the original ballpark in Newark and the finest organized little league ballpark in Licking County. Mound City offers a state of the art facility with eight onsite baseball and softball diamonds, instructional structured divisions beginning at age four and continuing to age eighteen. We are happy to also provide paved handicap & stroller friendly walkways, covered seating,

large modern restrooms facilities, concession area, water fountains, playground, & ample parking. These amenities are anchored by a centrally located fieldhouse that houses the restroom facilities, directors office and concessions on the first level, and also showcases an upper level clubhouse which features a wrap-around viewing deck which overlooks the entire park. Tournaments
The elite "GRAND DADDY" of all little league tournaments, The Licking County Shrine Tournament, is hosted at Mound City Little League every year. The goal of the "Shrine" tournament is to raise money for the Shriner Hospitals to help those children who can't play baseball of softball. All proceeds from this tournament are donated to the Licking County Shrine club which delivers that money to multiple Shriner's Hospitals in the area to help children with burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft and lip palates, and orthopedic conditions. Without the support from everyone at Mound City and all of the participating Licking County Little League programs, this effort would not be possible. The Licking County Shrine Club, since the inception of the tournament, has always charged a $1 entry fee and that fee has never increased. Each year MCLL Volunteers and the Licking County Shrine Club work to ensure that this tournament is one that your child will remember for a lifetime, regardless if they play at MCLL. Everyone at MCLL and the Licking County Shrine club thanks you all for your continued support of this tournament. Just know that your $1 goes a long way to making life for a child and their family just a little bit better. Not at Mound City. Not ever! Mound City Little League was founded on the idea that no child should have to pay to play the awesome sports of Baseball or Softball. Since 1951 MCLL has charged the governing commission of the park, by way of our constitution, to find what today would be considered alternate sources of income. As a non-profit organization the governing commission has stepped up every year by way of donations from local organizations in Licking County, by organizing fund raisers such as the Bowl-a-thon, hosting outside tournaments, and even tag days if COVID-19 protocols allow. The cost of playing baseball and softball operations, uniforms, umpires fees, and even food has increased over the years, but that hasn't stopped us! We have had decades of practice streamlining our organizational and operational costs to allow all children an opportunity to play baseball and softball for over 70 years. Costs continue to rise and so does Mound City every year! We thank each and every one of you who have generously donated each and every year to the betterment of the youth of Licking County. See you in the spring!

Inaugural Licking County Invitational Completes First Edition With Strong Community Support and Clear Momentum for 2027

Newark, OH — The inaugural edition of the Licking County Invitational wrapped up after two full weekends of competitive recreational baseball at Mound City Little League, bringing together thirty four teams and hundreds of families for an event that blended high energy play with a meaningful cause.

The tournament opened with pool play on June sixth and seventh, followed by elimination rounds during Championship Weekend on June thirteenth and fourteenth. Each team played at least three games and top performers advanced through the bracket for a chance to earn custom championship rings. Across both weekends, a total of sixty four games were played, creating a lively and competitive atmosphere from start to finish.

One of the defining elements of the Invitational was its purpose. Entry at the gate operated on a suggested one dollar donation and the event raised three thousand eighty nine dollars for pediatric cancer research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Families, coaches, and supporters contributed additional donations throughout the tournament, demonstrating strong community commitment to the cause.

The mission behind the tournament is rooted in the realities of pediatric cancer. One in two hundred sixty children will be diagnosed before age twenty. Forty seven children are diagnosed every day in the United States. There are more than one hundred twelve known pediatric cancer types. Historically, only four percent of federal cancer research funding has been directed toward pediatric cancers. Organizers emphasized that these numbers represent real families and real challenges, and that community driven events like the Invitational can help support research and treatment. As organizers noted throughout the weekend, you never know which dollar is the key to a cure.

The first edition of the tournament also brought together three participating leagues, strengthening connections across Licking County and reinforcing the event’s long term potential. With the inaugural year now complete, planning for Licking County Invitational II is already underway. Organizers aim to expand team participation, strengthen partnerships, and increase fundraising totals. The long term vision is to grow the Invitational into one of the region’s most impactful youth baseball events while continuing to support Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Tournament officials expressed gratitude to the volunteers, coaches, families, and community members who helped make the first edition a success. The event demonstrated what can be accomplished when a community comes together with purpose and laid a strong foundation for continued growth in the years ahead.

We wrapped up the 8U gold bracket and crowned Roofiant Exteriors as champions with Bummies Reds as the runners up. Both teams played with heart and gave us a great finale. We pushed hard to get through the 8U silver bracket but the rain moved in before we could finish. That game will be completed at a later time and we will share the updated schedule once it is set.

Now for the part that truly shows the strength of this community. You all donated $846 yesterday which brings our grand total to $3,089. Every dollar goes straight to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for Pediatric Cancer Research. Thank you for showing up in such a big way and making this tournament about more than baseball.
