This week is the penultimate week of spring boot camp. After next week, mornings in Maplecrest Park will be a little quieter.

And this summer will be the first summer in 12 years that I am taking a season off from leading this class. I’ll still be seeing clients, and adding new semi-private sessions to the calendar throughout July and August (link in bio).

We had a special visitor at the Wednesday 9:30am class this week which made all those high knees just a little easier.

It’s never too late to start working out in the gym.

As we age, our bones lose density and it becomes harder to increase lean muscle mass. But harder is not impossible. It’s important.

Adding resistance work (strength training) greatly decreases the rate of bone loss (and can in fact improve bone density). It also keep the muscles working which allows us greater freedom of movement.

Who doesn’t want that?

Weight training later in life helps

💪🏻 increase bone density
💪🏻 increase lean muscle mass
💪🏻 improve balance and coordination
💪🏻 improve heart health
💪🏻 improve our mood (endorphins baby)
💪🏻 improve sleep
💪🏻 reduce stress

I can’t stress enough how important it is to move and bear weight.

I’ve been working on something new and it’s finally around the corner.

Starting May 18th, I'm launching semi-private training sessions at my private gym in South Orange.

Each session maxes out at three people, so it’s small enough that you get real attention and real coaching, and flexible enough that you don't need to commit to a recurring slot. Just show up, train hard, and leave feeling strong and happy.

Right now these sessions are running primarily on Mondays from 12:30-1:30pm, and there are additional days that are being added as available.

👉 I just added a class on Friday, May 22 at 10am and one on Tuesday, May 26 at 8:30am.

The best place to catch those updates as they go live is on Instagram — follow me at so you don't miss them.

If this sounds like your kind of training, here's what to do:

👉 Learn more about semi-private training here: https://allisonkalsched.com/personal-training-and-boot-camps

👉 Sign up for a session here: https://allisonkalsched.com/semi-private-training

If a session is already full, don't count yourself out — add your name to the waitlist. If someone gives up their spot, it’s yours.

This is strength training the way I believe it should be: intentional, supported, and actually fun. I can't wait to be in the room with you.

I'm launching semi-private training session on May 18. These sessions are designed for women who have at least basic experience in the gym. Sign up on my website at allisonkalsched.com/semi-private-training and if a class is full, add your name to the wait list.

I'm excited about this new opportunity to provide individualized strength training on a more flexible timeline! Add some lift to your exercise routine!

For me, the beauty of my NOURISH retreat is the magic that happens when an amazing group of women come together in nature.

Without obligations and only decisions like “should I walk with the goats or do yoga”, this kind of recharging and connecting to oneself and to others is what life is all about. It’s the moments in between the must-dos and the lists.

I hope NOURISH reminded everyone who attended to pay attention to the want to-dos and the newness of connecting with strangers and trying new things. It definitely did that for me.

Thanks to all eleven who joined me this weekend and made this a special three night retreat.

Thanks to for creating a warm and welcoming space for us (and making those vegan chocolate chip cookies COME ON those are ridiculous).

See you next time…
