Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana Founded in 1983, Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana is one of America’s most prominent flamenco companies.

Our mission is to promote flamenco as a living art form and a vital part of Hispanic heritage, produce and perform high quality dance works, and provide arts education programs that catalyze connections among young people, while nurturing the new generations of Spanish dance artists and educators. We believe that the universal spirit of flamenco – with diverse influences from Arab, Jewish, Gitano, Spanish, African and Latin American cultures – gives this art form a unique power to build bridges between people.

Meet the 2026 Flamenco Certamen USA Winners: ESCENARIO

Ana María Cornejo has a big year ahead! 🇫🇷🇪🇸

Escenario is the Certamen’s most advanced category, for artists on a professional path. Finalists perform their own work with live musicians, with little rehearsal beforehand, relying on their knowledge of the form and their ability to communicate with the guitar and cante in real time.

She receives $1,000 and will perform at the Festival Flamenco Azul Marsella (Festival Flamenco Azul) in spring 2027.

Ana María was also selected for an additional prize from Tablao de Carmen (Tablao de Carmen - Flamenco en Barcelona), La Cueva de Lola (), and La Capitana Espacio Flamenco (¡La Capitana! Espacio Flamenco ®). She’ll perform two evenings each at Tablao de Carmen in Barcelona and La Cueva de Lola in Madrid alongside their roster artists, and take classes in La Capitana’s summer program in July.

Meet the 2026 Flamenco Certamen USA Winners: TABLAO

Congratulations to Andrea Ezeta, 1st Prize Tablao winner. The Tablao category honors advanced artists with real command of compás and an emerging voice of their own. After a week-long residency with mentors and musicians at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Andrea delivered a solo at Symphony Space that earned her the top prize.

Next stop: Madrid! 🇪🇸 Andrea receives $1,000 and will perform two evenings at Las Tablas (Las Tablas Tablao Flamenco) in Madrid, attend the 2027 Certamen de Coreografía de Danza Española y Flamenco (Certamen Coreografía de Danza Española y Flamenco), and take a week of classes at Amor de Dios.

Meet the 2026 Flamenco Certamen USA Winners: ESTUDIO

Enhorabuena, Oya de la Osa! 👏

Oya earned 1st Prize in the Estudio category, which recognizes rising artists building a strong foundation in technique, compás, and performing with live music. Before taking the stage at Symphony Space on October 17, she spent a week in residency at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, working daily with mentors and live musicians.

Her prize keeps that momentum going: $500 and a week of study with an instructor at the 2027 Festival de Jerez (Festival de Jerez).

A little rain couldn’t stop this celebration! ☔️💃🏽

Dancers of all ages and experience levels came together this afternoon at Socrates Sculpture Park for our second edition of En Comunidad. This collaboration between Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana and FlamencoLatinoNYC traced the journey of beloved dancer, singer, and maestra Aurora Reyes, from her first encounter with flamenco to founding Flamenco Latino and nurturing a generation of NYC flamenco artists.

Gracias to Flamenco Latino directors Aurora and Basilio and Flamenco Vivo Guest Artistic Director Karen Lugo for leading the way. To the Flamenco Latino dancers and students and Juana Cala for sharing your artistry . To the familias who trekked through the rain and squeezed in close to cheer on their children. And to the Socrates Sculpture Park team, who helped us pivot so the rain couldn’t steal any joy from the day.

This is COMUNIDAD and the best way to wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month!

🌟MEET THE FLAMENCO CERTAMEN USA 2026 ESTUDIO FINALISTS!🌟

Rie Katayama is a choreographer and artistic director of Flamenco Cerezo/Expresivo in Chicago, a role she has held since 2015. Born in Japan, she began studying flamenco 25 years ago and additional training background in rhythmic gymnastics, modern dance, and lyrical dance. Her mentors include Melody Vasquez, Wendy Clinard, Chiara Mangiameli, and Claudia Pizarro in Chicago, as well as Paloma Gomez, David Romero, Adi Movdat, and Miguel Vargas in Spain and online. In 2016, she performed in the opening program of Festival Flamenco Alburquerque. She regularly performs with La Mar de Bien and with Casa Triana across Chicago and beyond.
