Columbia University Bhangra

Columbia University Bhangra Bhangra is a folk dance originating from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan that celebrates the harvest and everyday life of the Punjab.

Founded in 2002, Columbia University Bhangra is a competitive collegiate dance team, committed to fostering an appreciation of Punjab culture in both its dancers and audiences alike. Columbia Bhangra adds a modern twist to the Punjab dance. Inspired by the diversity, modernity, and energy of NYC, Columbia Bhangra combines traditional and contemporary styles of Bhangra. The team has been focused on

creating modern, entertaining, and energetic routines, and stands out for its iconic style and energy in the Bhangra circuit. The team has performed at some of the top competitions in the country, including but not limited to Bhangra Blowout, Big Apple Bhangra, and Bhangra in the Burgh. Columbia Bhangra also hosts its own showcase each winter called Bhangra in Heights, the biggest Bhangra showcase in the tristate area.

We also want to thank the judges for using their platform to highlight and celebrate female dancers in the circuit - the recognition meant so much. 💌
