We are absolutely devastated to announce the untimely passing of our friend, Ken McKenna. A truly extraordinary individual, Ken, along with his wife Julian and Rottie Loki (and most recently, Bucky!) has been a fixture on the training floor at Five Points Academy for as long as there has been a Five Points Academy. Please join his wife and boys on September 3rd, 2026 to commemorate his life. Visitation will be at Frank E Campbell Funeral Chapel, 11:30 am - 3 pm, 1076 Madison Ave, with services to follow at Grace Church, 4 pm, 802 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to two charities dear to Ken: https://spikes9fund.org or Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Steve shares his journey from discovering Muay Thai in New York, to training in Thailand, stepping into professional fights, becoming a coach, and later using strength training to help fighters move better, hit harder, and stay healthy.

This conversation explores Muay Thai, professional fighter mindset, coaching, strength training for combat sports, and why kettlebells can support martial artists without taking away from speed, timing, or skill.

Steve also shares why fighting is not only about toughness. It is about preparation, team culture, technical basics, pressure, recovery, and knowing how to train for the fight — not for ego in the weight room.

A huge congratulations to one of our own, Alberto “Junior” Flores, on his graduation! 🎉🎓

Watching him grow from a young kid in our Junior Muay Thai program to a strong, dedicated athlete competing in the youth MDL has been an absolute privilege. He has been a true part of the family for years, a friend to everyone, a fun sparring partner and supportive teammate.He is an incredibly special young man who brings so much positive energy to this community.

While he steps into his next chapter, we truly hope to keep seeing his familiar face around the gym just as much as always (hopefully more 🤞).

We wish him nothing but the absolute best in whatever path he chooses next. 🥊👏
