Rana has officially filed to run for New York’s 36th State Assembly District, representing western Queens — including Astoria. This seat, previously held by Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani (2020–2025), will be vacant starting January 1, 2026.

Rana announced her campaign at a community event right here in Astoria, centering the issues that matter most to our neighbors:
