Barbara Feller has been a voice practitioner in New York City for more than 20 years. Her interest in advancing the study of voice beyond traditional methods led her to explore new approaches to strengthening and freeing the vocal musculature. Revolutionary insights were derived from a new awareness of body dynamics from the explosion of physical fitness consciousness, and from findings of contemporary research in neuroscience.
Working with extraordinary teachers and researchers over the years, Ms. Feller incorporated these ideas with tried and true techniques into a highly effective system for voice transformation. This system, which she calls INTEGRATIVE VOCAL TRAINING, or IVT, enables professional singers, actors, public speakers, and musicians to "de-program" problems, find new pathways to vocal freedom, and reach peak performance with amazing speed and confidence. IVT promises actual change in the moment and is effective on damaged voices and aging voices, across a variety of genres and mediums.
Central to her work is the idea that a performer should be able to navigate with freedom through many vocal styles and vocal qualities. The goal is to get at what is charismatic in the voice of each client by developing its full range of expression. Actors, singers and speakers can then be free to concentrate fully on the exploration of character and the telling of the story -- owning the information and delivering the message-- instead of constantly thinking about voice production. This is the essence of IVT: the techniques lead to unlimited freedom and discovery, and once cued into the body, stay with a performer for life.
Stay tuned.
