West Side YMCA Teen Center

West Side YMCA Teen Center A safe space to socialize, seek support and participate in activities that build self-esteem, prepare for higher education, and success as an adult.

Here are a few of the programs we have to offer:

LEADERS CLUB
You can meet tomorrow's leaders today at the YMCA Leaders Club, a leadership program that gives teens the opportunity to learn to become more effective in their interactions with others while also experiencing new ways to give back and grow as human beings. TEENS TAKE THE CITY
A unique opportunity to gain hands on experience about how

decisions are made that directly impact their daily lives. The program will focus on the ways the democratic process impacts NYC communities, and how teens themselves can be effective agents of change. URBAN WORD LIVE! Each week, teens join workshops over the internet via live video stream. They get a chance to particpate in writing exercises, meet teens with similar interests, and submit their work to be published in a digital anthology by the end of the program. LIVING THE LIFE
Discuss current social issues, hear speakers, and offer opportunities for socialization and community involvement including an LGBTQ Prom and fun service projects that supports Human Rights. TEEN LOUNGE
Want to meet new friends? The Y provides a supervised safe haven where teens engage with their peers and build social and recreational skills. BASKETBALL
Learn and master the basics of passing, dribbling, and shooting and practice your offense and defense during our open gym time and Inter Y basketball program.

Favorite Superhero: Captain America, because he carries around just a shield to protect himself. He doesn't "fly" or have some crazy magical powers. He's just himself!!!

Lesson I Learned: A riddle a day keeps the doctor away.

Meet who's here for you!

Attended Manhattanville College

Favorite superhero: Wonder Woman. She's my superhero because although we both didn't have a fatherly figure, she exudes woman empowerment. She is known to be one of the strongest superheroes now. Overall, we have a few things in common.

Lesson learned from a mistake: Failure is part of the process, so you shouldn't be afraid to fail. Sometimes you have to lose yourself in order to find yourself.
