Apex Sports Academy was founded in 2013 by Maurice Hutton, who serves as the Club’s President and head coach. While the Club’s mission is to help track and field and road running athletes of all levels, the focus has remained on preparing high school athletes seeking to participate in collegiate athletics. The academy is currently made up of Elementary, Middle, High School and Collegiate athletes.
Practices currently take place at James Monroe High School in which there is Open Enrollment. The Apex Sports Academy extends its gratitude to the many people who have financially contributed to the foundation. We would like to thank the following who have kept the Club alive and running. Maurice Hutton is a native of Kingston, Jamaica. After getting his foundation in track and field in his homeland he moved to the United States where he won two state championships at Roosevelt Junior Senior High School in Long Island, NY. While attending Virginia State University on a track scholarship he was an All-American Division II Sprinter. Hutton has been coaching youth football and training prospective NFL draft picks for the last three years. For the last two years he has done one-on-one coaching for state champion track athletes. In his free time Hutton enjoys running local races and hanging out with his dog Max.
