I really like the shape of this one and the cursive Raleighs is a cool touch. The bottom has a small #1 and on the side near the bottom it says bottle made in USA

How the hell do I get this jar out!
So i live in a house that was built ~200 years ago and is built upon an underground railroad. This railroad is blocked off in our basement and it goes from the start of the street where there is a restaurant.

Im not going to name it outwardly but ill give a little backgound of this area.

This restaurant is known for having the underground railroad under it. I've never been in cause its one of those "$100 for a teaspoon of a mystery dish" and has a strick dress code. It's somewhere in northeast Ohio.

there could be some cool ass s**t in there.

Anyway I got super bored and started rummaging around and found this. I've found some odd things already like bones (some obviously animal one I'm not so sure, I'll ask the bone redditors some time soon), news papers from 1930s, a dress buried by the well, and other random things ulbs.

There is also a well that has some sort of briefcase looking thing and a blanket or some cloth or wrap at the bottom of it. It's deep, no one told us about it when we got the house, only found out cause a poor insulation guy almost fell in.

I tried to make a thing with a coat hanger and it broke which is what that pink thing is in there btw

The last slide is my idea on how to get it possibly but need to find some tubing or poles.

TLDR: Old ass house with a long eventful history has a jar that I need to get out or im gonna go crazy. I NEED TO KNOW WTF IS IN THERE

Identification Help.
Found this bottle on the river banks in SEPA. I thought it had an interesting shape. It doesn’t seem very old, but I’m not a collector or anything, so I’m unfamiliar with some of the markings.

Some markings on the bottle:

PAT-PEND

A “JG” mark/logo

An underlined 29

And the number 90

And a number 5.

Other observations:

Holds about 350ml

Barrel shaped

Two seams going up the sides on opposite ends to the lip.

There is a rectangular pattern that wraps around the top and bottom with an indented and smooth surface going around the middle.most likely for a label I would assume.

I’m guessing the 90 might be the date. An old soda/ beer bottle maybe? Just looked cool to me, was wondering if anyone had something similar or more info. TIA!

ID ME PLEASE
Greetings to all and everyone, I found this in the attic, I can't seem to find another similar. I believe the DES Patten applied for was stated to mean deign patent on this sub but this is the only reference to DES patent I can find and no luck on the patent number either. I figure it's 1930 ish era based on similar but I really am a novice and am mostly guessing. Is it valuable for resale by any chance? It's a cool bottle either way but times, they be tough, and I sure could use some surprise cash. No worries if it's not valuable more than anything id like to know what it was and when it was used. Thankee sai

Antique bottle JACKPOT behind my house
What started as me checking out a few strong metal detector hits in my backyard in coastal New England quickly turned into uncovering what appears to be an old household dump site. The area is packed with bottles, jars, and household glass spanning multiple decades!

The collection keeps growing every time I dig. So far there have been tiny cork-top medicine bottles, amber apothecary bottles, milk glass cold cream jars, cobalt blue containers, perfume bottles, condiment bottles, ink bottles, cosmetic jars, giant storage jars, pharmacy bottles, old canning jars, pantry jars, and Depression-era household glassware all mixed together in the same area.

Some of the identifiable pieces so far include Murine eye wash bottles with the original glass applicator, Coty perfume bottles, Heinz bottles, Vaseline-style milk glass jars, Vicks-style jars, Fletcher’s Castoria style bottles, iodine/medicine bottles, ink wells, pharmacy bottles, and several embossed tonic and medicine bottles with partial markings still visible.

Based on bottle seams, closures, manufacturing styles, and help from people online, a lot of the pieces seem to range from the late 1800s through the 1940s or 50s, with most of it likely clustering around the 1920s-1940s era.

Every time I think I’ve finally cleared the area, another bottle neck or signal shows up and I end up right back out there digging again. Thanks for stopping by!

Introducing my first cup!
Show and tell
From heartbreaker of an early blown crown top to my new pen holder! I used a dremel tile cutting wheel and a Jerry rigged drip system to cool and reduce dust then a little bit of sanding and I was good to go!

Am I allowed to share a dump site that I don’t think people are aware of? Details below.
My husband and I go traveling to fly fish. We mostly go to eastern states and fish rivers and creeks. I’m also a rock hound, and just someone who generally enjoys digging around in nature to see what sort of history or goodies I can find.

I was doing my normal rock hounding by the river and came across ALL of this! This all came from one area of the river and this is only a couple of hours of exploring. I didn’t have the time or resources to dig any deeper or further. I can only imagine what true hobbyist would be able to find in this place.

We were told that the area was actually an old landfill and that they had basically covered it with a bunch of dirt and now they were in the process of developing little vacation and airb&b cabins along the river. I actually even found an old marble back when they were hand made.

The spot I came across literally looked as if someone carefully buried them along the river bank. The bottles were mostly in tact and everything. Some of the bottles were an almost completely intact old Coca Cola bottle, an amber colored bleach bottle, glass perfume bottle, some other amber unidentified bottles and a clear glass bottle that said “DR KILMERS SWAMP ROOT” labeled on it. Then on top of that was a bunch of the old ceramic insulators they used to use! Again all in one area.

The river is connected to a dam. So you would need to find out the schedule and go on days that the water level is low enough. But I genuinely don’t think many bottle diggers are aware of this spot because of how many I was able to casually find without even trying to. All in one spot. All found within a couple of hours.

I hate that I don’t live near the area because it’s killing me not knowing what else could possibly be hidden under all the mud. Not only that, but it’s a good initiative to get people out and cleaning up the rivers. If people are out bottle digging, hopefully they are also making sure to clean out the actual trash as well.

I sooo badly want to know what else can be found in this spot and feel like people on this sub could do a lot of good for the environment while also doing something they enjoy. This should seriously be a great place to go digging.

I didn’t want to just come and yell it to the roof tops about this place if it’s against sub rules though. I don’t want to get banned or in trouble lol. So I figured better to be safe and ask for permission than to be sorry and get banned haha.

Shard ID Help - EESE
Hi! Found this in a city park in Illinois. Small, milky glass, letters "EESE" visible. May have been a couple inches in diameter when intact, based on the curve. Odds are this would have been the bottom. Thank you!
