Before you pick up everyone else's needs today, set your own feet on the ground.
You need sixty seconds and the willingness to come back into your own body for a moment.

Breathe in for four. Out for six. Let the exhale be the longer one โ€” that's the part that tells your body it's safe to soften.

This is the Ground pillar of the Comradely Care System, the Prepare to Care(give) working program, because we all understand a body that's been holding on for weeks.
Come back to your feet to be steady and ready:)

There's a guilt no one prepares you for.

The guilt of being tired of someone you love. Of wishing, just for one afternoon, that you were anywhere else. And later โ€šand the guilt that frightens people most, the quiet relief that can arrive when their suffering finally ends.

Relief is not betrayal. It does not cancel your love. You can grieve someone with your whole body and exhale for the first time in years, and both of those truths can live in the same chest.

Caregiving asks you to hold things that don't seem like they should fit together. Love and exhaustion. Devotion and resentment. Loss and release.

If you've felt that relief and then felt ashamed of it, hear this clearly, YOU are not a bad daughter, or son, or partner. You are a human being who carried something heavy for a very long time.

You're allowed to set it down with grace.

Sometimes it takes a stranger to remind you: look up. Take a breath. Give yourself permission to be real.
So here's your permission slip, caregiver
to rest and replenish.
to ask for help before the crisis, not after.
to laugh and cry in the same breath.
You were never meant to carry this alone. Joy likes company too. ๐Ÿค

If you're the one holding it all together. The appointments |the worry |the quiet bracing for whatever comes next

Caregiving lives in the body. In the shoulders that never quite drop. The jaw that stays clenched. The breath you forget to take all the way down.
So I made you something. A short grounding meditation called Caregiver's Meditation!
Few minutes to stop holding, and let yourself be held instead.
๐ŸŽง Save this for the next hard day.

That begins with ๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ข๐ง๐ . Before the next plan, the next appointment, the next hard call, come home to your breath, your feet on the floor, the steady center that's yours.
And when the season passes, that grounding doesn't leave with anyone. It stays. It's yours.

The financial stress of caregiving is one of the heaviest parts.
I mean the first time I was called away from work was ok, but then it became more frequent, and if you do not live near your loved one, the cost of travel adds weight to the situation.
In-home support and navigating insurance denials, confusion and/or claims is a job onto its own.

As an integrative functional medicine health coach, I believe preparation isn't just physical or emotional. It's practical too, it protects you and supports you in the moment.

This is not grief because someone died, but more like the mourning of the person you love is changing and the person you knew as yourself to be is changing along side them.
Anticipatory grief | Ambiguous loss |Compassion fatigue
These are very real and we want to name them for family caregivers.

This is what Prepare to Care(give) holds space for, the logistics, and the full human experience of family caregiving. Journey #
