Most women come to me for toning up stubborn areas, improving their lifestyle, and getting unstuck so they can move forward towards feeling and being more confident in their lives. One of the key exercises I see in the gym is everyone doing back squats with the bar or body weight squats. Now background story I too use to be a frequent back squatter. In fact, my back squats was in matched when it came to form, technique, intensity and frequency. However, when I asked most women why they want to do the back squats, or double meg squats- I get this āI want to tone up and build and target my hips, my glutes, and my inner thighs. Furthermore, when i dug deeper into the conversation I often heard āisnāt squat the best exerciseā and I when I took it further by asking why donāt you do split squats, stationary lunges or even single leg squats.. this is what I got- āsquats (double leg squat is better then single meg/ split squatā obviously this is due to many reasons why the average gym goer thinks that way. However, it couldnāt be further than the truth. A split squat, single leg squat, even a stationary lunge is far better than a double leg squat when it comes to more bang for the buck, muscle tension, muscle activation, toning and sculpting.
