The StreetSquash College Access Department would like to invite all NYC high schoolers and their caregivers to sign up for a FAFSA Workshop to help support you through the College Application Process!

The FAFSA is the form that the federal government, states, colleges, and other organizations use to determine a student's eligibility for federal financial aid, such as grants, educational loans, and work-study programs.

It is also used to determine many state and institutional financial aid programs, including the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and the NYS Excelsior Scholarship Award.

The workshop will cover all necessary steps on how to complete the FAFSA, TAP and HEOP applications and what required documents are needed to be eligible for aid.

Happy World Squash Day. Celebrate the sport today with a look at the champions of the StreetSquash Smash Cup.

The Smash Cup is an internal tournament held at the start of every season to determine the initial rankings and ladder for all participating students. It always sets the competitive tone for the year and showcases the incredible dedication of the students.

Congratulations to the winners featured in this montage and to everyone who gave it their all on the court to kick off the season.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a perfect time to highlight how StreetSquash makes mental health and wellness a core pillar of its programming. Normalizing the discussion around mental health is essential for helping youth feel comfortable talking about their feelings.

In a recent workshop, students explored this by participating in interactive activities like emotion and coping skill charades. The kids practiced self-reflection by identifying complex emotions and learned self-advocacy by using "I statements" to ask for support.

As 9-year-old Asherah shared, learning "calming things" helps students manage feeling frustrated or mad.

Check out the video to see the workshop in action and remember that it is always okay to ask for help!

At StreetSquash, we measure impact by what happens next.

100% of our participants graduate from high school. 97% go on to college or another postsecondary opportunity.

Those outcomes are possible because young people have a place where they can build academic skills, develop confidence, access mental health support, explore careers, and have a village of people in their corner year after year.

Your DAF can help make that possible this ! Your gift to StreetSquash can help us:

• Expand project-based learning & academic enrichment
• Provide free mental health & social-emotional support
• Give young people access to squash training, tournaments, and competition
• Support college, career, and postsecondary planning
• Build the skills, confidence, and relationships that help participants thrive
