I have been blessed to coach great people during my career. I love seeing you grow up and use your soccer experience at Molloy to guide you through life. It is great to see your celebrations and I feel for you in your struggles. I am impressed that you keep in touch with your team. I am more impressed that I can see all you guys who played for Archbishop Molloy soccer connecting as a family. Soccer is a great game to teach about the importance of teammates and a common goal. The virus has changed our society forever. Some jobs will be enhanced and other jobs will be gone. It is a rough time to be a college graduate or a high school senior that does not know if they will have a season. I feel my Alumni can help these players. We are the winningest high school soccer team in NYC history. You should be very proud of this tradition. I think the best way to do this is to join the Archbishop Molloy LinkedIn alumni site. You can then join a separate subgroup of Molloy soccer players. List your profession and your expertise and maybe connections can be made. This is going to be a challenging next few years and it would give me great pride that you can connect with teammates of a different team. Please go to the Archbishop Molloy Alumni site and join. Brother Mike was a great influence in Molloy Soccer and in my life. He was my moderator during a time when we lost a 5 month old pregnancy. He spent the rest of his time at my games consoling my wife. He loved the sport. He used to be the head coach of St. Mary's . I never ran up the score against him because he was so nice of a man. He transferred to Molloy and became my Moderator. We won the Championship in 1992. He was a big reason. RIP Brother Mike.

SAD NEWS For Archbishop Molloy Soccer Alumni

We have lost one of our soccer alumni. John Hickey, class of 1986, passed suddenly last week. John was captain of Molloy's 1985 soccer team. He was proud to be a captain. John was a great captain and a strong leader who played hard every practice and every game. I enjoyed coaching him. He was a great representative of our program.

There will be a memorial mass on Friday January 11 at 11:00 am at St Aloyusis in New Canaan, Connecticut.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

John Hickey passed away on December 12, 2018 at the age of 50 in New Canaan, Connecticut. Funeral Home Services for John are being provided by Hoyt Funeral Home.
